Our work

May 13 to May 23, 2018

We recently returned from a trip to Ethiopia. During our time there, we met with our Hearing Technician students in Addis Ababa, Mekelle and Gondar. Dr. Miriam Redleaf, neurotologist,  conducted surgical camps with the otology fellows in both Mekelle and Gondar with a focus on mastoidectomy surgery. Our Audiologist, Dr. Gabrielle Cager, performed pediatric hearing testing (Auditory Brainstem Response testing and Condition Play Audiometry) as well as fit hearing aids on a number of paitents. Another successful trip.

The work continues!

Ensuring that there are well trained qualified professionals is imperative in changing global health care.

A year of work! Good Bye 2018

2018 has been a pretty exciting year. We have a total of 6 patients who have had cochlear implant surgery in Addis Ababa. They are receiving aural re-habilitation services and are being monitored by local providers that we trained as well as by Med El corporation (CI manufacturer) and our audiologist.

We have had 3 otology fellows complete the otology fellowship program who are now working as otologist and teaching in Addis Ababa, and Bahir Dar, Ethiopia. The Minister of Health, Dr. Amin Aman Hagos, has recognized our Certificate of Completion for Ethiopian Otology and has allowed our graduates to register as otologist.

Our hearing technician program has 26 students who are near completion and 3 more just beginning in Bahir Dar.

Welcome 2019.

Happy New Year!
